Lou flōs

biography.

Lou Flōs (pronounced “loo flows”) takes his name from the Latin word flōs, meaning flowera quiet nod to his family name, Flores. The change was simple but intentional. It marked the moment he decided to let his music grow beyond who he was & to let it stand for something personal.

Born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, in 2001, Flōs was raised in a musical home where the piano was always near. His father, a pianist, guitarist, and composer, remains an enduring influence not only as a mentor, but as the reason Flōs first believed in the life of music. It was in these early years that he began to understand sound as both a form of language & prayer.

After studying graphic design at the University of Texas at El Paso, Flōs left his degree to pursue music full time. He spent a year truck driving across the United States - a period that, though unconventional, proved remarkably fertile. Many of his early sketches & themes were conceived on the road, written without a piano, guided only by inner hearing & imagination. It was during this period that he finally found the courage to share his artistry publicly. In 2020, he launched his YouTube channel KeysByLuis, where he began arranging & performing piano covers of the music he loved. It began as a hesitant experiment, born from the fear of revealing a deeply vulnerable side Flōs had never shared before. Yet what started in uncertainty quickly grew into an international audience with listeners from around the world connecting to his sound from the very first video.

Now based in Denver, Colorado, Lou Flōs continues to build a growing catalogue of orchestral & piano music. His orchestral EP "Swaying Leaves" established him as a composer capable of intimacy & scope, while "You’re Safe With Me, Op. 53," recorded with Ukrainian cellist Polina Faustova, revealed his gift for tenderness in all its rarity. He has collaborated with the Bulgarian Symphony Orchestra, the Orquestra Sinfônica do Estado de São Paulo, & the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra, further establishing his presence in the contemporary classical world.

Flōs is currently composing his first symphony & developing Windows, a new musical form in paired movements that explore perspective, time, & human reflection. His upcoming projects continue to trace the thread that began in childhood; a devotion to the inner life of music, to writing what feels honest, & to finding the divine in sound itself.

Lou Flōs lives & writes in Denver, quietly working toward what he calls “The Joy of Today” - one note at a time.

“One thing have I asked of the Lord, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord & to inquire in his temple.” Psalm 27:4 (ESV)

"A verse that guides me through every composition."
